Blount County Correctional Facility
The Blount County Correctional facility was constructed in 1995. It has a bed capacity of 101 inmates. The trained staff of the Blount County Correctional Facility provide a healthy and productive environment for the rehabilitation of inmates who have been incarcerated. This portion of our website is to provide you with information about the correctional facility’s policies and procedures regarding inmates. Visitation Information
The following is a list of rules and regulations for visitation of any inmate incarcerated in the Blount County Correctional Facility.
1. Visitation day is Sunday: 8:00 - 11:30 AM, 1:00 - 4:00 PM and 7:00 - 9:00 PM.
2. Inmates are allowed one (1) twenty-five (25) minute visit.
3. There will only be two (2) visitors at a time allowed to visit with an inmate. This includes adults and children.
4. Visitors are required to have picture identification to be allowed into the visitation area.
5. Visitors must sign a visitors log.
6. All visitors’ personal property, such as coats, purses and briefcases are NOT allowed in the visitation area at any time and are subject to search and seizure. * This also applies to professional visitors, NO EXCEPTIONS. Visitors may not give an inmate any type of property directly.
7. All visits are non-contact.
8. Special visits outside of normal visitation hours must be approved by the correctional administrator.
9. Anyone who is under the age of 18 years old, must be accompanied by their legal guardian. Young children are not to be left in the lobby without an adult present.
10. Visitation may be cancelled due to a national holiday or a facility emergency.
11. Anyone who has been incarcerated in the Blount County Correctional Facility within the last 6 months CANNOT visit with an inmate at any time. NO EXCEPTIONS.
12. Inmates on medical lock down or disciplinary lock down will not be allowed visitation.

PROFESSIONAL VISITATION
(Attorneys, Law Enforcement, Bonding Companies and Ministers)
1. Hours of visitation: 8:00 - 11:30 AM
1:00 - 5:30 PM
7:00 - 10:00 PM
* These hours are for inmates in housing units. No visitation will be allowed while lunch or supper is being served
.
2. Inmates in holding cells may have professional visits after booking has been completed.
3. The facility has only one (1) contact visitation room and it is assigned on a first come, first serve basis. If others are waiting for the room, the shift supervisor may enforce time limits, if necessary.
4. Anyone having a contact visit is subject to search of their person and property.
5. Picture and professional identification will be required.
6. Visitor log must be signed at time of visit.
Inmate Information
Inmate Mail:
You may communicate with an inmate at any time via the U.S. Mail. We receive deliveries Monday through Saturday from the U.S. Postal Service. All incoming mail is opened and searched for contraband. Legal mail received shall be opened in the presence of the inmate to confirm that it is legal mail. Cash and personal checks will not be allowed by mail. Money orders made out to the inmate can be sent by U.S. Mail. All mail should be addressed as follows or it will be returned to the post office:

Inmate Money:
The Blount County Correctional Facility will NOT accept cash at anytime to be given to an inmate. In the lobby of the Sheriff's Office, there is a kiosk that will accept cash and credit \ debit cards 24 hours a day. We do NOT accept personal checks for inmates.
Inmate Phone Usage:
Inmates cannot receive phone calls, however they are allowed to make collect calls. You will need to check with your phone provider to ensure that you can accept collect calls. All calls are recorded.
Inmate Personal Items:
Inmates are allowed to have certain items. We have included the list of items inmates are allowed to have while incarcerated at the Blount County Correctional Facility. The items listed below MUST be delivered within four (4) days from the date of booking. Any items brought after the four (4) day period, will be rejected or placed in the property of the inmate but the inmate will NOT have access to the items. Inmates are allowed the following to be delivered:
7 pair of socks (white only)
7 pair of underwear (white only) boxers or briefs
7 t-shirts with no pockets or logo (white only)
1 pair of shoes, soft soled containing no metal
1 pair of thermal underwear (white or cream only)
1 pair of shower shoes
2 pair of sweats (white or grey only) no pockets, hoods or logos
FEMALES: 3 bras without underwire
Personal items such as deodorant, toothpaste and toothbrushes must be purchased by the inmate at the commissary. You are not allowed to leave personal items other than what is listed above for any inmate.
The items on this list will be strictly enforced and any variations will not be allowed.

How do I bond someone out of jail?
Cash Bond:
A cash bond can only be made by paying the cash bond in full. Payment must me made to the Circuit Clerk of Blount County at the clerks office, located on the second floor of the Blount County Courthouse, during the regular business hours, if the arrest occurred by the Blount County Sheriff’s Office. If the arrest was made by a town or municipality (Blountsville, Oneonta or Snead), the payment must be arranged and made to the respected agency’s magistrate.
Cash Surety Bond
A cash surety bond can be made using a bail bonding company listed above. Prices vary and you must contact the bonding company for prices. The Blount County Correctional staff does NOT quote prices for bonding companies.
OR
The full amount of the bond can be posted at the Circuit Clerk of Blount County’s office during regular business hours. Once the case has been settled in a court of law, your money will be returned to you in most cases.
OR
You may use a property bond. To use a property bond, you must have your current tax assessment sheet, which can be obtained at the Blount County Courthouse during regular business hours. Everyone who is listed on the land must be present with picture identification. If the land is not in Blount County, you must take the tax assessment paperwork to the sheriff’s office in the county in which the land is located to be approved.
